Morning, Fleming Island 👋
Not the Friday night we wanted. Here’s how it went, plus a volleyball team that’s definitely having a season, and what the sky’s doing before you make weekend plans.
Short one today. 🌴
🏈 Oakleaf 47, Fleming Island 15
A rough one at home, and no way to dress it up. The Golden Eagles are 1-2.
Next up: Homecoming against Ridgeview, Friday at 7 PM at home.
Around the county
Clay went to Palatka and won 35-0. Middleburg won by exactly the same score at North Marion. Both are 2-1 now.
🏐 6-0. And only one team has taken them past three sets.

The Golden Eagles volleyball team has not lost a match this season, and for the first five, nobody managed to take a single set off them.
Then Fletcher pushed it to five sets. Fleming Island won that one too.
And yes, that run includes Oakleaf. They went over there on Tuesday and swept them 3-0.
They’re 1-0 in district play, sitting second in 4A District 4, and ranked 53rd in the state.
Two home matches next week if you want to go and watch. Santa Fe on Tuesday, Spruce Creek on Wednesday, both 6:30 at Fleming Island.

TODAY AROUND THE ISLAND
Storms likely by mid-afternoon.
A shower’s possible from late morning, but the heavy stuff holds off until around 2. Heat index near 103.
🛠️ Correction: the market wasn’t on today
We told you the Fleming Island Saturday Market was running this morning, 9:30 to 2 at Village Square. It wasn’t. If you drove over because of us, we’re sorry.
Here’s what went wrong. The county’s events calendar still lists the market for today, and so do the other listing sites, because they all run off the same “first Saturday of the month” rule. We trusted those instead of checking with the market itself. That’s on us, and it’s the wrong way round: a calendar tells you what usually happens, not what is happening.
From now on, if we tell you to drive somewhere, we’ll have confirmed it with the people who run it.
The market’s own page is the place to check before you go: Fleming Island Saturday Market on Facebook →
🏠 Open houses this weekend
We want this to be a proper weekly list. Where they are, when, how much, who to ask for. The kind of thing you can scan on a Saturday morning and decide to go and be nosy.
To do that properly, we need it from the agents themselves, so here’s the open invitation.
Fleming Island agents: send us your open house, and we’ll run it. Address, date, time, price, and your name. It’s free. No paid placement required. If it’s useful to people who live here, we’ll include it.
In the meantime, realMLS runs a free public open-house search covering the whole of Northeast Florida. No account needed.
One thing worth knowing before you go: the rain gets going early afternoon today, and from about 1 tomorrow.
🤠 The rodeo’s still going. Tonight is night two at the Clay County Fairgrounds in Green Cove Springs, and it wraps tomorrow with Super Bull Sunday. Details →
Before you go... tell me something good 💛
