Mostly sunny, and the wind has dropped right off.
Warmer than it looked yesterday, so take water if you are out midday. Then clear and 73 tonight, which is the good news.
🏈 Friday night, at home, and the weather is on our side
Fleming Island hosts Ponte Vedra tonight at 7:00. Varsity football, at Fleming Island High on Village Square Parkway.
And the forecast could hardly be better for it. Clear, 73 degrees, and the breeze that has been pushing us around all week finally drops off after dark. After a September that spent most of its time above 90, a Friday night where you actually want a seat in the stands is a nice change.
If you've never been to one, this is a pretty good week to go.
🐕 Early dismissal today, and the library has a plan
The elementary schools let out early this afternoon, which leaves a couple of hours to fill. The library is filling them.
Half-Day Hangout: Dog Man Edition. 1:00 to 3:00, Fleming Island Library, Children's Activity Room. Crafts, games, and activities built around everybody's favorite crimefighting dog. It's aimed at ages 5 to 11 and their families, and you just turn up; no booking.

⛵ Saturday: a sunset spot we have not sent you to before
Sunset Tiki Bar at Dr's Lake Marina is hosting the Admirals Fleet Mixer on Saturday, starting at 5:00.
Enjoy live music from Jim Murdock and Matthew Bevis, food from Pollera's, and a great spot to watch the sun go down over Doctors Lake.
In their words: "Cold drinks, great music, fresh food, and beautiful sunsets."
The event is open to the public, and everyone is welcome.

Sunday is the wet one. Showers from mid-morning, storms likely through the afternoon, and a 60 percent chance of rain overall. Plan Sunday indoors and you will not be disappointed.
Two weekends left at the Spring Park City Pool. This one and next. It closes for the season on September 27, it is open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays 11 to 7, and it is cash only, no cards, no checks. The splash pad stays free and open every day, 11 to 8.

We will lay it out properly next week, but Saturday the 26th is the biggest day this island has had since we started the newsletter. Three things, all on Fleming Island, and the times barely touch each other.
11 to 2 · First Coast Vendor Village on Village Square Parkway
1 to 4 · A blacksmith at the library, outdoors, forging things out of railroad spikes
6 to 9 · Concert on the Green at the gazebo, with a band and food trucks
A market, a forge, and a concert without leaving the island. Put it in the calendar now, and we will fill in the details next Friday.
