Morning, Fleming Island 👋

One more soggy day, and today the river joins in.

Rain showers through the day, a Flood Watch until noon, and a coastal flood advisory on the St. Johns. Here's what that means for us.

HIGH / LOW

TODAY AROUND THE ISLAND

Rain showers likely, on and off.

Breezy from the northeast. Tonight eases off, and Thursday is closer to a coin flip.

🌊 When the river's highest

The weather service has a coastal flood advisory out for the St. Johns River basin, and overnight they extended it until 2 PM Saturday. Strong northeast winds and higher-than-normal tides are pushing water up the river, and around high tide that means minor flooding of lots, parks, and roads near the water, with only isolated road closures expected.

Predicted high tide on the river is 11:13 this morning and 11:45 tonight, then just after noon on Thursday, at NOAA's Red Bay Point station. Those are the hours to watch if you live, park, or walk the dog near the water.

This isn't a one-day thing. With the advisory running into the weekend, the high-tide hours are worth watching through Saturday.

WEDNESDAY SPOTLIGHT

🎭 Fleming Island has its own theater

If you caught Beetlejuice Jr. last weekend, you've already been inside. The Island Theater is Fleming Island's community theater, at 1860 Town Hall Circle.

It's a nonprofit built around theater classes for kids and adults, live shows for the community, and support for arts charities. The youth classes are meant to stay low-cost, and there's a scholarship option. It's also a Clay Elevate grant winner, from the Reinhold Foundation.

This Saturday is Night on Broadway, a benefit concert of Broadway songs at 7:30. General admission is $12, and the first two rows are donation seats at $50 and $25.

After that, The Addams Family opens October 16, then 12 Angry Jurors in November and Annie in December.

🧙 Witches on Walnut is Saturday, 5 to 9 PM on Walnut Street in Green Cove Springs, hosted by Essence of You. Free, with vendors, food, face painting, live music, and costumes welcome. More in Friday's issue.
