Morning, Fleming Island 👋
No school, no rain, and a new place to eat breakfast. Not a bad way to start a week.
Clay County students are off today for a teacher planning day, and after all that rain from Isaias, the sun is finally back. 🌴

The weekend
Friday's issue has it.
🏈 The weekend in football
Jaguars 19, Eagles 17. Trevor Lawrence called it "the craziest game I've ever been a part of," and he wasn't wrong.
Philadelphia took a 17-16 lead on a field goal with eight seconds left. Ameer Abdullah returned the kickoff 53 yards, and Cam Little hit a 57-yarder on the final play to win it in London.
The snap on that kick came from defensive tackle DaVon Hamilton, who'd been filling in at long snapper since the first quarter.
Lawrence threw for 331 yards and two touchdowns, both to Parker Washington, including a 27-yard fourth-down touchdown to retake the lead late. The Jaguars are 4-1 and have won three straight.
Saturday's college scores
Georgia 20, Alabama 17. The second-ranked Bulldogs won a top-10 game in Tuscaloosa.
South Carolina 38, Florida 19. The 16th-ranked Gators suffered their second straight loss.
Florida State lost 44-20 to Louisville on Friday night. The Seminoles are back home against Miami this Saturday.
Closer to home
Weather stopped Friday's Fleming Island-Clay game, with Clay leading 11-6. It'll be finished on November 3 or 4. The Golden Eagles host Middleburg this Friday.

🐾 Meet Macy
Macy has been at Clay County Animal Services since November 29, 2025. That's more than ten months of waiting.
She's a big black mixed breed, almost 7 years old, and already spayed. The shelter's write-up calls her "the perfect mix of couch potato and chaos gremlin," which is about the best description of a dog we've read.
She's a little reserved at first, but once she decides you're one of hers, it's zoomies, stuffies, and snacks. She knows sit, walks fairly well on a leash, loves to learn when treats are involved, and rides well in the car.
One thing to know: when she gets excited, she can get a little overstimulated and jumpy, so she'll do best with someone who'll keep working with her.
Clay County Animal Services, 3984 State Road 16 West, Green Cove Springs.
🗣️ Ask the Town
It's officially fall, even if it's still in the mid-80s out there. What's one fall thing on or around the island you never skip?
Hit reply and tell me. The best answers run in Friday's issue.
Before you go... tell me something good 💛
