Morning, Fleming Island 👋
Wawa opened yesterday, and the Golden Eagles helped give it a proper welcome.
Now we’ve got a weekend with a Fall Festival, The Addams Family onstage, costumes at Black Rifle, and another Sunday morning Jaguars game from London.
And apparently the weather has finally agreed to participate in October. 🌴

Sunny and near 89 once the morning fog clears. A cold front arrives tonight.
The weekend: after tonight's front, Saturday stays in the low 70s, with a small chance of morning showers and north winds gusting into the mid-20s. It gets windier Saturday night and Sunday, with gusts in the 30s, and Sunday tops out near 71. Forecasters also say minor flooding along the St. Johns could return around high tide starting Sunday and may stick around into next week. More on that Monday.

🦅 A Golden Eagle welcome for Wawa
Fleming Island’s new Wawa opened Thursday with the Fleming Island High School band and cheerleaders there for the celebration.
The goose mascot was outside greeting the crowd, and a Clay County fire truck was parked nearby. Apparently, opening the doors quietly wasn’t the plan.
We’re glad our Golden Eagles got to be part of the welcome. And tonight, Middleburg visits Fleming Island High for football at 7.
🎨 The Fall Festival is this weekend
The Town of Orange Park's 44th annual Fall Festival runs Saturday and Sunday, 10 AM to 5 PM both days, at Town Hall Park, 2042 Park Avenue. It's been going since 1982, and the town calls it Clay County's oldest and largest arts and crafts festival.
Admission is free. Artists and vendors, two stages of live music, a Kids Zone with inflatables, and a full row of festival food.
Parking tip: park free at Moosehaven, 1701 Park Avenue (use the Park Avenue gate), and ride the free shuttle, which runs 10 AM to 5:30 PM. The town asks people not to park in the Winn-Dixie/CVS lot. And Saturday will be breezy, so hang on to your hat around the tents.

🎃 Costumes and coffee at Black Rifle
Black Rifle Coffee on Fleming Island hosts its third annual Trunk or Treat Saturday, 5 to 6:30 PM, at 1619 County Road 220. Bring the kids in costume. If you'd like to decorate a trunk, they're signing people up through their Facebook page.

🧟 The Addams Family opens tonight at The Island Theater, 1860 Town Hall Circle #54. 7:30 PM tonight and Saturday, plus Sunday at 2 and 6. Adult presale tickets are $18 plus tax and fees, and the run goes through November 1.
🎤 Spot On Comedy at Spotlight Events Center, 1809 East-West Parkway, Saturday at 7 PM. Tickets include soft drinks, beer, wine, appetizers, and cookies.
