Halloween is still a week away, but the trunk or treats start this weekend, and Saturday might be a wet one.
The candy collecting starts Saturday, early voting opens today, and Green Cove has a few ghost stories waiting for us next week. Apparently, the weather wanted to dress up as the problem. 🎃

Sunny today, showers Saturday.
A breezy, sunny Friday and a night around 60. Saturday brings about a 50% chance of showers with gusty northeast winds, rising to 60% Saturday night, and Sunday sits around 40%.
River note: the National Weather Service now has a Coastal Flood Watch out for our area. Strong northeast winds could push water levels higher along the St. Johns this weekend, with Sunday and Monday the best chance of moderate tidal flooding, and forecasters expect the concern to continue into next week. Keep an eye on the latest alerts if you're near the river.
🎃 Halloween starts early (bring a raincoat)
Saturday is the big trunk-or-treat day around here, and the National Weather Service gives it about a 50% chance of showers, rising to 60% Saturday night. So, check their pages before you load up the car.

4 to 6 PM · 5101 Lakeshore Dr W, Fleming Island
🍭 O2B Kids Spooktakular
6 to 9 PM · 1821 Town Center Blvd
Trick-or-treating, costume contests, carnival fun, spooky science and art, and a haunted house for ages 6 and up. Free for O2B members, $15 per child for non-members, and adults get in free with a child. Parents stay with their kids; there's no drop-off.
🚗 Trunk or Treat at Green Cove Springs Church of Christ
6 to 7 PM · 3650 Russell Road, Green Cove Springs
Their flyer says it's free and all ages are welcome.
Staying on the island? Crossroad Lutheran wraps up right as O2B gets started.
🎸 Grown-ups only: the Headless Bangers Costume Ball is Saturday, 8 PM to midnight, at World Golf Village. It's an indoor option for the grown-ups.

🕯️ Ghosts of Green Cove's Past
Thursday, October 29, 6 PM · VIA Clubhouse, 17 N Palmetto Ave, Green Cove Springs
A guided evening of local history and haunting tales. Tickets are $25, and it supports the Green Cove Springs Preservation Society.
🎃 Trunk or Treat at the Black Creek pumpkin patch
Friday, October 30, 6 to 8 PM · 3925 Main St, Middleburg
The patch itself is open every day through Halloween, with $2 train rides.

🛋️ Sunday: the Jaguars are on their bye week, so Sunday's free. They host the Colts on November 1.
